The LDC team consists of students who share a passion for Latin dance, and instructors who will inspire and challenge you to become an awesome dancer. Together, LDC aims to build a welcoming and vibrant community for people who find joy in dance.
Tiffany will be our tango instructor this year. She has danced ballet, modern, tap, and jazz extensively and has also taught yoga and martial arts. She has been dancing argentine tango for 12 years.
In her class, you can expect:
To be challenged by this complex style
To learn both sides of the dance
To discover muscles you weren’t even aware you had!
Sebastian will be our salsa and bachata instructor this year. He has been learning, teaching, and performing salsa and bachata for over 20 years both in Vancouver and internationally!
He has been a salsa instructor for UBC LDC since 2012! He started his own dance team in 2004.
Sebastian is a graduate of UBC and has a Masters in Genetics (…so you see even scientists can dance!)
Although Kizomba and Urban Kiz are her true dance loves, Lena loves movement, versatility and exploration in general, and so you’ll find her anywhere from ballroom to salsa to swing on any particular night, with each of them filling some part of her cup
Lena’s training began with a training and teaching apprenticeship under Rina and Anjan with Nikit, who she regularly teaches with under Nikit & Lena – and who might show up and do some guest instructor weeks to help out throughout the term! She believes in the importance of a Kizomba/Semba foundation in Urban Kiz, respecting the roots, and loves all styles related to Kizomba.
